Specialty Environmental Services
The results of a Phase II ESA may indicate that an advanced remediation approach is required to meet the stringent standards of the Federal Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). Universal Engineering Sciences, Inc. (Universal) has extensive experience in cleanup of contaminated properties through engineered remediation design. Universal has performed specialty environmental services since 1984. The remediation effort may be as straightforward as a source removal or may involve the design and installation of complex systems for remediating groundwater and soil contaminants. Large-scale projects are routine for us; we have successfully completed large-scale source removal excavations, underground storage tank (UST) removal and assessment, dewatering and air stripping, air sparging, vapor extraction, biosparging, chemical oxidation, and bio-remediation projects.
We coordinate with regulatory authorities and complete required documentation on behalf of the owner to assure compliance with applicable regulations. Universal also has a strong understanding of FDEP Pre-Approval projects. The Pre-Approval Program is divided into three subprograms: The Petroleum Cleanup Participation Program (PCPP), the Pre-Approved Advanced Cleanup (PAC), and the Free Product Recovery Initiative (FPRI). These programs assist property owners with contaminated soil and/or groundwater issues by providing state funding for remediation. State funding may be allocated for between 50% and 100% of the cleanup cost, depending upon the individual site and associated contamination issues.
